Khulna: Initiatives are set to be undertaken to develop all markets in Khulna city with modern facilities, as announced by Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Administrator Nazrul Islam Manju. He outlined this plan during a series of daylong visits to various markets in the city.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Manju’s visits were accompanied by senior KCC officials and market leaders. The administrator emphasized that the authorities are vigilantly overseeing market management, including the monitoring of essential commodity prices, waste disposal, drainage systems, hygienic conditions, and lighting facilities. He assured that all markets would undergo phased inspections, with necessary steps taken to transform them into modern facilities.
Manju highlighted the Prime Minister’s commitment to this initiative, stating that there is a strong dedication to meeting the needs of traders and consumers alike. He visited several key locations, including Sheikhpara Market, Mistripara Market, Chandmari Market, and Moylapota Meat Market, to assess current conditions and plan the necessary enhancements.
During his visit, Manju also inspected the ongoing soil excavation work at the embankment of the Chandmari Matiakhali canal. The inspection team included KCC Chief Executive Officer Rajib Ahmed, Chief Engineer Moshiuzzaman Khan, Chief Planning Officer Abir Ul Jabbar, Executive Engineer Sheikh Md Masud Karim, Administrative Officer Molla Maruf Rashid, Sub-Assistant Engineers Sheikh Nazrul Islam and Amit Kanti Ghosh, Market Superintendent Sheikh Shafiqul Hasan Didar, and Senior License Officer Md Moniruzzaman Rahim.
