Barisal: Police arrested Bayezid Zannat Sinha, the organizing secretary of the banned Chhatra League Khulna district unit, from Barisal city on Wednesday evening. Sinha, the son of Ziaul Zannat Bablu, hails from the Sonadanga area in Khulna city.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, acting on a tip-off, a team from the Detective Branch (DB) of Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) conducted a drive in Barisal city and apprehended Sinha around 7:00 pm. The arrest was confirmed by Taymur Islam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of DB, KMP.
The OC revealed that Sinha was arrested through mobile phone tracking in connection with a case filed with Khulna Sadar Police Station on March 18 this year. He had been evading arrest since August 5 last year. Sinha is set to be produced before a court with a request for remand, the OC added.
