Khalid Urges Medical Care for Bangladeshi Pilgrims in Saudi Arabia

Mecca: Religious Affairs Adviser Dr AFM Khalid Hossain has emphasized the importance of providing medical services to Bangladeshi pilgrims during Hajj. During a special meeting with the Hajj delegation-2025 at the conference room of the Bangladesh Hajj Office in Mecca, Dr Khalid instructed medical teams, including physicians, to ensure healthcare services for the pilgrims.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr Khalid highlighted the necessity of ensuring food and accommodation for pilgrims at Mina and Arafat during the Hajj days, particularly when traveling from Mecca to Mina. The meeting delved into the logistics of transporting pilgrims between Mecca, Mina, and Arafat.



The meeting was attended by Religious Secretary AKM Aftab Hossain Pramanik, members of the Hajj delegation, the administration team leader, the councilor of Hajj, the medical team leader, the IT team leader, and other officials.



This year, the holy Hajj is scheduled for June 5, according to the Arabic lunar calendar. Unfortunately, a total of 17 Bangladeshi pilgrims have passed away in Saudi Arabia due to old age or various health issues, as reported by the Hajj office bulletin.



Approximately 87,157 Bangladeshi pilgrims, along with management team members, have arrived in Saudi Arabia on 224 flights. Director of the Hajj office of the religious ministry, M Lokman Hossain, stated that 70 Hajj agencies have been approved by the ministry.



Biman Bangladesh Airlines has operated 108 flights, transporting 42,404 pilgrims, while Saudi Airlines conducted 83 flights carrying 31,676 pilgrims. Riyadh-based Flynas Airlines transported 13,077 pilgrims on 33 flights. The director noted that, through the government’s efforts, the Saudi embassy in Dhaka issued all necessary visas for Bangladeshi pilgrims.



The first Hajj flight, carrying 398 pilgrims, departed from Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on April 29. The return flights are scheduled to begin on June 10 and continue until July 10.
