Khalid Hossain Inaugurates Zakat Collection Programme to Aid Helpless Patients

Dhaka: Religious Affairs Adviser Dr. AFM Khalid Hossain today inaugurated the “Zakat and Donation Collection” programme in the auditorium of the Department of Social Service at Agargaon in the city, aimed at supporting destitute and helpless patients.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the two-day programme, organized by the Department of Social Services and the Social Welfare Ministry, will continue tomorrow. The initiative allows interested individuals and institutions to donate Zakat at any hospital in the capital.



During his speech as the chief guest, Adviser Khalid Hossain emphasized the importance of giving Zakat properly. He stated that many people fail to give Zakat proportionate to their wealth, which is not in accordance with Islamic principles. He urged the public to follow these principles, highlighting that wealth does not decrease by giving Zakat; rather, it leads to prosperity.



The event featured 37 Zakat collection stalls from different hospitals in the capital. After the inauguration ceremony, the Religious Affairs Adviser visited all the stalls to show his support.



A seminar was also held, titled ‘The Importance and Significance of Zakat in Islam for the Welfare of Destitute and Helpless Patients’. The Assistant Director of the Department of Social Services, Lamiya Yasmin, delivered the welcome speech, setting the tone for the seminar.



The event was presided over by Director General of the Department of Social Services Md. Saidur Rahman Khan, with Secretary of the Social Welfare Ministry Dr. Md. Mohiuddin present as the special guest. Saidur Rahman Khan ceremoniously handed over a Zakat check to Adviser Khalid Hossain, marking a significant moment in the programme.
