Rangamati: Religious Affairs Adviser Dr. A F M Khalid Hossain today emphasized that the objective is not a safe exit but rather a transition of power to an elected government by facilitating the upcoming parliamentary elections in February. "I have no home abroad. I am passing my life in a very simple way. The country is ours and it is our last resort. We want a normal exit. We want to hand over the state power through holding elections," she stated.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Khalid made these remarks while addressing journalists after attending a rally of harmony organized by Parbattya Chattogram Olama Parishad at Shilpakala Academy in Rangamati. The adviser stated that the forthcoming election, scheduled for February, will proceed as announced by the Chief Adviser. "We have cent percent preparations for the election. We hope the election will be free, fair and inclusive. We hope will hand over the state power to an elected government through holding the election," he added.
Highlighting the diversity of the Chattogram Hill Tracks (CHT) region, Khalid stressed the importance of fostering harmony among the communities living there. "A harmony should be built among the people of every community in the region," he noted, likening the collective effort to a garden where many flowers come together to create beauty.
The meeting was attended by notable figures including Religious Affairs Ministry's Joint Secretary Sadek Hossain, Rangamati deputy commissioner Md Habib Ullah Maruf, and Superintendent of Police Dr SM Farhad Hossain. Parbattya Chattogram Olama Parishad central committee president Maulana Hazi Shariat Ullah presided over the meeting, with general secretary Maulana Muhammad Abu Bakar Siddique moderating the event.
