Dhaka: BNP Standing Committee member Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Tuesday emphasized that the name of former BNP Chairperson and Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia will remain “written in golden letters” as long as Bangladesh exists, along with its nationalist ideology. Rizvi described Khaleda Zia as an uncompromising leader and referred to her as the ‘Mother of Democracy’. He highlighted the BNP’s commitment to the democratic path laid out by Khaleda Zia.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Rizvi, who also serves as BNP senior joint secretary general, made these remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion event. The event was held ahead of a doa mahfil organized by the Dhaka South City unit of BNP at the Motijheel AGB Colony Community Centre, marking the 81st birth anniversary of Khaleda Zia. Rizvi underscored Khaleda Zia’s teachings on patriotism and the sacrifices she made for the nation’s welfare.
Rizvi also made references to the Liberation War, highlighting the actions of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, who declared Bangladesh’s independence in 1971 despite family security concerns. Rizvi drew parallels to Khaleda Zia’s own struggle, noting her decades-long commitment to the cause of democracy.
The event was attended by BNP Chairman’s Adviser and Dhaka South City Corporation Administrator Abdus Salam, and State Minister for Liberation War Affairs Ishraque Hossain. Dhaka South City BNP Convener Rafiqul Alam Majnu presided over the program.
