Dhaka: Khaleda Zia's personal physician and BNP Standing Committee Member Dr AZM Zahid Hossain announced that the BNP Chairperson and Former Prime Minister is set to be transported to London for advanced medical treatment. The move aims to address the complex health issues she is currently facing.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr Zahid communicated that if all arrangements proceed smoothly, Khaleda Zia will depart for London either shortly after midnight or early the next morning. The decision to transfer her for treatment was made based on the recommendations from a team of specialist doctors.

Dr Zahid provided these updates to journalists at Evercare Hospital shortly before 3 pm. He mentioned that a designated hospital in London has been selected for her treatment. Specialist doctors will accompany Khaleda Zia on the journey to ensure she receives continuous medical care.

Dr Zahid expressed optimism about Khaleda Zia's recovery, stating, 'We are optimistic about Begum Khaleda Zia's physical condition. She will return to everyone again.' He urged the public to pray for her recovery and conveyed the gratitude of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman and Khaleda Zia's family to all who have shown concern.

Khaleda Zia has been receiving treatment at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka for the past 12 days, following her admission on November 23 due to breathing difficulties from a lung infection. She subsequently developed pneumonia and has pre-existing chronic conditions, including kidney, liver, arthritis, and diabetes issues, complicating her treatment.
