The President of Bangladesh Jamiatul Modarresin and editor of the daily Inqilab, AMM Bahauddin, today expressed that Begum Khaleda Zia was a leader whose leadership propelled Bangladesh forward. 'If Tarique Rahman becomes prime minister in the future, Bangladesh will progress even further, following the path set by Begum Khaleda Zia,' he added.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Bahauddin was speaking at a discussion titled 'Contribution of Leader of the Nation and three-time former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia to the development of madrasa education' and a doa mahfil for her soul. The event was organized by Jamiatul Modarressin Jashore Sadar Upazila unit at a hotel in the district town.
Highlighting Begum Khaleda Zia's contributions, AMM Bahauddin mentioned her emphasis on the expansion of the readymade garments (RMG) sector, which is the country's leading export industry. He noted that during her tenure as prime minister, she creat ed employment opportunities for women in the garment sector ensuring a dignified working environment. Through the introduction of non-formal education, she helped transform a vast segment of the female population into skilled human resources.
Bahauddin further stated that Begum Khaleda Zia played a pioneering role in increasing the salaries of Madrasa teachers and initiated efforts to improve madrasa education standards. He highlighted that the recognition of Fazil and Kamil levels of madrasa education as equivalent to degree and master's levels during her government was a landmark step in Bangladesh's madrasa education history.
The event was chaired by Principal Mohammad Hafizur Rahman, President of Jamiatul Modarressin Jashore Sadar Upazila unit, and featured speeches from BNP Khulna Divisional Acting Organising Secretary Anindya Islam Amit and Jamiatul Modarressin Vice-President Muhammad Nurul Islam. Jashore district BNP President Syed Saberul Haque Sabu, General Secreta ry Delwar Hossain Khokon, and Organising Secretary Monir Ahmed Siddiqui Bachchu were also present.
