Dhaka: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia is enjoying a fulfilling time with her family after returning from medical treatment in the United Kingdom. A recent family gathering at her younger brother Shamim Iskander's home in Gulshan marked her first public appearance since her return.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Khaleda Zia attended the family function on a Saturday, where she shared joyful moments with her relatives. Pictures circulated on social media show her wearing a silk saree of dark blue, red, and light orange shades, accessorized with a pearl necklace, as she sat smiling on a sofa surrounded by family members.
The BNP chairperson left her brother's house at 9:13 pm, heading back to her Feroza residence in Gulshan, escorted by her daughters-in-law, Dr. Zubaida Rahman and Syeda Sharmila Rahman Sinthi. Her departure was met with enthusiastic slogans from supporters present at the location.
This gathering held special significance as it was her first family event in a long time. Khaleda Zia had previously stayed at Shamim Iskander's home after being evicted from her cantonment residence, making this visit a nostalgic return after many years.
Since her return from London on May 6, Khaleda Zia has been under complete rest, as per the medical board's advice. Her health is monitored closely by doctors who visit her home regularly. She continues to receive treatment following guidance from The London Clinic, with her personal physician, Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain, coordinating her care. Her health condition is reportedly much improved compared to before.
