Dhaka: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia today visited the US Embassy in Dhaka to provide her biometric fingerprints for a visa. Upon her arrival at the embassy, she was welcomed by its officials, including the acting ambassador. Accompanying Begum Zia were her personal physicians, BNP Standing Committee member Prof Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain and Dr. Mohammad Mamun, along with the party's Organizing Secretary Shama Obaid and her Private Secretary ABM Abdus Sattar. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr. Zahid Hossain stated that Khaleda Zia might need to travel to the USA for medical treatment, which necessitated the visit for her biometric fingerprint. Khaleda Zia, who is also a former Prime Minister, is 79 years old and has been dealing with various health issues for an extended period. Although she has been receiving treatment at Evercare Hospital, the medical board has recommended that she seek better treatment from a multidisciplinary center. In preparation for this, Beg um Khaleda Zia plans to travel to London first, followed by a trip to the United States, as advised by her physicians.
