Dhaka: BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia has extended Eid-ul-Azha greetings to the countrymen, party leaders, and workers both in the country and abroad, as mentioned by her personal physician, Prof AZM Zahid Hossain. She has requested prayers from everyone and will be celebrating Eid with her close relatives at her Gulshan residence ‘Feroza,’ where animals will be sacrificed.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, sacrifices will also be made by Khaleda Zia’s family in Gabtoli, Bogura, and by party leaders and workers in her name across various districts. Zahid, who is also a BNP standing committee member, said that Khaleda Zia’s sister Selina Rahman, her younger brother Shamim Eskandhar, and other close relatives in Dhaka will gather at Feroza to exchange Eid greetings and have lunch together.
Meanwhile, BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman marked the occasion in London, where Eid is being celebrated today. He attended Eid prayers at an Eidgah in London with party leaders and workers. He also had a conversation with his mother, extending Eid greetings, and spoke with his daughter-in-law and granddaughters.
Tarique Rahman is celebrating Eid with his wife Zubaida Rahman, daughter Barrister Zaima Rahman, and other family members, including the late Arafat Rahman Coco’s wife, Syeda Shamila Rahman, and their daughters Zahia and Zafia Rahman. Zubaida Rahman traveled from Dhaka to London yesterday, arriving in the early hours of today, while Coco’s wife returned to London about a week and a half ago.
Khaleda Zia returned to Dhaka on May 6 after completing her treatment in London, where she previously celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr at Tarique Rahman’s house. During her two and a half months of treatment in London, she celebrated Eid privately with her sons-in-law and granddaughters, marking a significant family reunion after more than a decade and a half.
