Khulna: The Khulna City Corporation (KCC) is set to announce its budget for the 2026-27 fiscal year on September 3. This decision emerged from a special meeting held at Shaheed Altaf Auditorium at Nagar Bhaban, presided over by KCC Administrator Nazrul Islam Manju.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the meeting was organized to gather opinions on the revised budget for the fiscal year 2025-26 and the proposed budget for 2026-27. The event was attended by members of the government-formed committee overseeing the city corporation. KCC Administrator Nazrul Islam Manju highlighted that the upcoming budget would be realistic, noting a decrease in the budget size due to the nearing completion of development and rehabilitation projects for important and damaged roads, as well as improvements in the drainage system.
Despite the reduction in government-funded projects, KCC’s revenue collection has seen an increase in the current fiscal year compared to the previous year. Manju emphasized that the new budget would include initiatives to support women entrepreneurs in marketing their products. He called for sincere cooperation from all parties to maintain the development momentum and transform Khulna into a prosperous city amid challenges.
KCC Chief Executive Officer Rajib Ahmed conducted the meeting, while Budget-cum-Accounts Officer Md Moniruzzaman presented data on the proposed 2026-27 budget and the revised 2025-26 budget. The meeting was also attended by senior officials from various entities including Khulna Metropolitan Police, Khulna WASA, Khulna Development Authority, district administration, BTCL, Fire Service and Civil Defence, BIWTA, and other government agencies.
