Chattogram: The State Minister for Primary and Mass Education, Bobby Hajjaj, announced plans to integrate all primary schools, kindergartens, and English medium institutions into a government monitoring framework. This initiative aims to bring comprehensive oversight to primary education across the nation.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Hajjaj stated that the existing monitoring system has mainly focused on government primary schools. However, the proposed policy reforms are set to extend the scope of monitoring to cover all primary education institutions in the country. He made these remarks as the chief guest at a training workshop on classroom management and the role of local administration in primary education.
Hajjaj underscored the need for field visits to assess the actual conditions of schools, which will contribute to improving the quality of primary education. He also highlighted the importance of accurate data in the education administration to address discrepancies effectively.
In addition, the state minister revealed plans to introduce school feeding programs in all government primary schools nationwide next year. He emphasized the need for enhanced monitoring of learning outcomes, attendance, nutrition, and the overall learning environment at the school level.
Hajjaj outlined seven critical standards for education administration officials to ensure quality improvement and accountability. These include the regular operation of schools, verified teacher presence, accurate student enrollment figures, and direct observation of student learning.
He also stressed the necessity for government resources to reach intended students, safe and functional school infrastructure, and respectful interactions among officials, students, guardians, media representatives, and the public. Hajjaj reiterated the commitment to eliminate untrained teachers from classrooms, highlighting the need for proper training and qualifications for educators.
The quality of teacher recruitment, training, and classroom teaching capabilities will be integral to the future monitoring framework, he noted. The event was chaired by Md. Nurul Islam, Deputy Director of Primary Education for the Chattogram Division, with Additional Director General Md. Abdur Rahim and various district and upazila primary education officials present as special guests.
