Dhaka: Police have arrested an Awami League (AL) leader from Old Dhaka’s Nawabpur area on charges of taking part in a sudden procession in the capital city on Sunday. The arrestee has been identified as Abu Jaher Dulal, who serves as the Youth and Sports Affairs Secretary of Kabirhat Upazila Awami League in Noakhali district.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dulal was apprehended following a police operation in the Nawabpur area of the capital on Sunday, as stated in a police press release. The arrest followed his involvement in numerous sudden processions organized by the Awami League across various locations in Dhaka over the past few months.
Dulal’s participation in these flash processions includes events in the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban area on October 31, Mohammadpur area on October 28, in front of Mirpur-1 Commerce College on October 22, Banglamotor area on September 12, and Sher-e-Bangla Nagar area on September 9. He reportedly shared videos of these processions on his own verified Facebook page.
