Rangpur: The July uprising has ushered in promising opportunities for the younger generation to construct a merit-based society free from discrimination and corruption. This optimistic outlook was highlighted during a post-rally and post-human chain discussion at the District Shilpokola Academy auditorium, coinciding with the observance of International Anti-Corruption Day 2025.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the district administration, in collaboration with the District Combined Office of the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC), District Corruption Prevention Committee (CPC), Transparency International Bangladesh, and ‘Sochetan Nagorik Samaj’, organized the day’s events. Divisional Commissioner Md Shahidul Islam kicked off the proceedings by raising the national flag and releasing balloons at the city’s Public Library premises. A human chain followed, culminating in a vibrant rally to mark the occasion.
Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Enamul Ahsan presided over the event, with Divisional Commissioner Md Shahidul Islam serving as the chief guest. He emphasized the crucial role of observing International Anti-Corruption Day in fostering moral values and honesty within society. He urged collective efforts to combat corruption, starting from families and educational institutions, to ensure fairness, transparency, and good governance.
The Deputy Commissioner remarked on the intricate nature of corruption, describing it as a multidimensional issue that undermines administrative capacity and hampers development. He expressed optimism that the youth would enhance the administrative framework with integrity, morality, and responsibility in the future.
The event also featured speeches by Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Md Majid Ali, Rangpur Range DIG Office Additional DIG Dr. AKM Akhteruzzaman Basunia, Rangpur Anti-Corruption Commission Divisional Office Director Md Nurul Huda, Superintendent of Police Md Marufat Hussaine, Anti-Corruption Commission Integrated District Office Deputy Director Md Shaon Mia, District CPC President Dr. Nasima Akhter, and ‘Sochetan Nagorik Samaj’ President Dr. Swasswato Bhattacharya.
Attendees included government officials, educators, students, scouts, CPC members, civil society representatives, and journalists, all rallying together for a corruption-free future.
