JU Recognizes 90 Top Students with Prestigious Awards

Dhaka: Jahangirnagar University (JU) today awarded the Deans' Award and Deans' Merit Award to students who secured the highest marks and Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) in the undergraduate (honours) examinations of 2020 and 2021. JU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan handed over the awards to the meritorious students as the chief guest at a ceremony held at 11:00 am at the seminar room of Zahir Raihan Auditorium on the campus.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Vice-Chancellor, in his address, emphasized the academic excellence demonstrated by the awardees and urged them to uphold both their personal reputation and that of the university in their professional lives. He underscored the importance of ethics, stating that morally enlightened work should be an integral part of their lives, and encouraged the awardees to remain committed to societal and state contributions.

Pro-VC (Academic) Prof Dr. M Mahfuzur Rahman, Pro-VC (Administration) Prof Dr. Sohel Ahmed, Treasurer Prof Dr. M Abdur Rab, and several deans from various faculties were present at the event. The ceremony was presided over by President of the Deans' Committee and acting Dean of the Faculty of Law, Prof Dr. Md Rabiul Islam, and moderated by Additional Director of the Students Counselling and Guidance Centre, Ameena Islam.

During the ceremony, a total of 73 students from different departments and institutes were recognized with the Deans' Merit Award for securing the highest marks and CGPA in the honours examinations of 2020 and 2021. Additionally, 17 students from different faculties and institutes received the Deans' Award for achieving the highest marks and CGPA in the same years.
