Dhaka: The authorities of Jahangirnagar University (JU) have announced plans to introduce a mandatory dope test for incoming students in the 2024-25 academic session. This initiative aims to ensure a drug-free campus environment for both new and returning students.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the deputy registrar (academic), Syed Mohammed Ali Reza, confirmed the decision today. The central admission test management committee, chaired by JU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan, reached this decision during a recent meeting.
Ali Reza elaborated that applicants must undergo the dope test at specific medical colleges or clinics designated by the university administration. These tests will be conducted under government-recognized policies. If a test result is positive, the applicant will be deemed ineligible for enrollment at the university.
