Journey of Para Archery Bangladesh begins

Para Archery Bangladesh, a new sports federation for physically disabled archers under the initiative of the National Paralympic Committee, began its journey through a launching ceremony at a local hotel Monday.

State Minister for Youth and Sports M Zahid Ahsan Russell inaugurated the campaign in Bangladesh as the chief guest to open the door to the international arena for the country's physically disabled archers.

Russell said the government is constructing a separate stadium for the talented disabled sportsmen near the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban on 4.16 acres of land at the cost of Tk14 crore.

During the programme, the state minister for youth and sports announced Kazi Rajibuddin Ahmed Chapal the president and Faisal Ahsanullah the general secretary of the newly formed committee of the Para Archery Bangladesh.

Secretary General of World Archery Federation Tommy Rene Josephite Dielen and Secretary General of World Archery Asia Kyu-Hyung Han were also present.

Also, Secretary General of National Paralympic Committee of Bangladesh M Maksudur Rahman and General Secretary of Bangladesh Archery Federation Kazi Rajibuddin Ahmed Chapal spoke at the programme.

Bangladesh Archery Federation President Lieutenant General M Moinul Islam (retired) was also present.

The logo of the Para Archery Bangladesh was unveiled at the function.

The sports ministry launched the new federation for physically disabled archers as a part of its plan of introducing more such bodies to athletics, table tennis, badminton, swimming, taekwondo, hockey and basketball.
