Khulna: Khulna University (KU) Pro-Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr. Md. Harunur Rashid Khan today emphasized the need for journalists to remain vigilant against misinformation. ‘Journalism is the mirror of society and has a wide scope. It is a profession that requires both creativity and responsibility,’ he stated during the closing and certificate distribution ceremony of a three-day multimedia journalism training held at the university’s central research laboratory’s conference room.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Professor Khan, serving as the chief guest, highlighted the potential impacts of journalism. ‘A single report can harm someone’s social status and dignity, therefore, objective reporting is essential. Journalists must check fact before publishing any news,’ he added, underscoring the importance of fact-checking in journalistic practices.

The event, organized by the Press Institute Bangladesh (PIB), was presided over by the former president of KU Journalists’ Association, Ekramul Haque. PIB assistant trainer Zilhaj Uddin Nipun, along with trainees Fahad Khondaker and Arpita, shared their experiences during the training session. Professor Khan later distributed certificates among the trainees, marking the conclusion of the training program.
