Dhak: Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) Managing Director and Chief Editor Mahbub Morshed has announced that journalists in Bangladesh are now able to work with freedom and independence. He highlighted that the interim government is prioritizing journalism and actively addressing the challenges faced by journalists and newspapers, thus allowing for more open reporting and public discourse.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Mahbub Morshed made these remarks during a keynote speech at the inauguration and founders' reception ceremony of the Ramu Press Club in Cox's Bazar. He emphasized that journalists can now freely engage in reporting and that this environment enables people to openly discuss and critique various issues.
Mahbub Morshed also discussed the historic and cultural significance of Ramu, describing it as a "living museum" rich in heritage and memories. He noted that the region's natural features, such as the hills and the sea, inspire its residents to think ambitiously. However, he cautioned that journalism often faces the risk of political division and called for unity among journalist organizations.
The event was chaired by Abul Kashem, the newly elected President of the Ramu Press Club, with General Secretary Ahmad Syed Forman conducting the program. Notable attendees included the former MP for Cox's Bazar-3, Lutfur Rahman Kajal, who was the chief guest, as well as special guests like Cox's Bazar City College Principal Akhtar Uddin Chowdhury, former District Education Officer Nasir Uddin, and Ramu Merchants' Association President Ruhul Amin Rocky. The Founding President of the Ramu Press Club, Amir Hossain Helali, also addressed the gathering.
The ceremony concluded with Mahbub Morshed presenting crests to the founding members of the Ramu Press Club.
