Senior journalist and former news editor of the national news agency, Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS), Quamrul Islam Chowdhury who died on Tuesday was laid to eternal rest today at the family graveyard at his village home in Sonaimuri of Noakjhali district.
Family sources said his last namaz-e-janaza was held at 7.30am today at Sonaimuri. Earlier, his namaj-e-janaza was also held on the National Press Club premises at 1am.
Feeding of destitute will be held at his village home after Jumma prayers on May 5.
Quamrul Islam Chowdhury died of liver ailments at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Hospital on Tuesday evening at the age of 63.
Quamrul Islam, former general secretary of Jatiya Press Club, earned his repute as a financial journalist as he made his debut in the Daily Sangbad while later he emerged as one of the country's leading environmental journalists.
