Journalist Nasirul Alam Passes Away at 53

Chattogram: Veteran journalist of Chattogram, Nasirul Alam, passed away at the age of 53. He breathed his last at Chattogram Medical College Hospital at 1:30 am last night.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, family members reported that Nasirul suddenly felt sick at his home around 1 am. He was subsequently rushed to Chattogram Medical College Hospital, where the on-duty doctors declared him dead. He is survived by his wife, two sons, and numerous relatives and admirers who are left to mourn his passing.



Earlier, Nasirul Alam had been seriously injured in a road accident, which led to various health complications. His funeral prayer, or namaj-e-janaza, was held at 11:30 am in front of the Badar Awalia mazar premises. Following this, he was laid to rest in his family’s graveyard in the Badarpathi area under Kotwali thana in the city.



Chattogram City Corporation Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossen, along with leaders from various professional bodies and a large number of colleagues, attended the janaza prayer. In separate condolence messages, Deputy Commissioner and convener of the Interim Committee of Chattogram Press Club (CPC) Farida Khanom, member secretary Zahidul Karim Kachi, and others expressed profound shock at Nasirul Alam’s untimely death. They prayed for the eternal peace of his soul and extended deep sympathy to his bereaved family.



Throughout his long professional career, Nasirul Alam served as a camera person for Channel I, Channel One, Jamuna TV, and Mohanagar News.
