Dhaka: A court here today sent to jail Jubo League (JL) organising secretary Dr Shamim Al Saiful Sohagh in a case lodged over allegedly attempting to murder one Mizan in the capital’s Banani area. Dhaka Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Md Sanaullah passed the order as police produced the Jubo League leader before the court and pleaded to keep him behind the bars in the case.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr Shamim Al Saiful was arrested on November 11 while returning after paying homage at the grave of Jubo League founding chairman Sheikh Fazlul Haque Moni at Banani Graveyard.
The case documents reveal that Mizan, 12, was shot on July 18 as he was passing by the anti-discrimination rally beside the Mohakhali Railgate area. Subsequently, his father filed a case against 47 individuals, including the ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
