JKKNIU takes elaborate programmes to observe Nazrul’s death anniversary

(JKKNIU) in the district has chalked out elaborate programmes to observe the

47th death anniversary of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam.

Vice-Chancellor (VC) of the university Professor Dr. Soumitra Sekhar Dey

placed a floral wreath at the mausoleum, which is situated in Dhaka

University (DU) area in the capital, of the Rebel Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam on

behalf of the university this morning.

Treasurer Dr Ataur Rahman and Dean of the university’s Business

Administration Faculty Professor Dr Md Riad Hasan were present at the time.

Prof Soumitra said Nazrul Islam made Bengali people confident. “His songs and

poems also inspired Bengali during the Liberation War in 1971,” he added.

Meanwhile, another floral wreath was also placed at the statue of the Rebel

Poet on the premises of JKKNIU in Trishal to mark the death anniversary, some

22 kilometers from Mymensingh.

Dean of the Arts Faculty Dr Musharrat Shabnam, Dean of the Fine Arts Faculty

Dr Tapon Kumar Sarker, Register Dr Md Humayun Kabir and Proctor of the

university Sanjay Kumar Mukherjee were present, among others.

A Doa and Milad Mahfil was also organized at the central mosque of the

university. A special prayer was offered seeking eternal peace of the

departed soul of Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, who used to believe in equality died

on August 29 in 1976.
