JICA Delegation Discusses Flood Forecast System Project with Dhaka University

Dhaka: A fifteen-member delegation led by Dr Masaki Todo, Senior Adviser of Global Environment Department of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Niaz Ahmed Khan today at the VC’s meeting room of the university. Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) of DU Professor Dr Sayema Haque Bidisha, Treasurer Professor Dr M Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, and Chairperson of DU Meteorology Department Dr Fatima Akter were present on the occasion, said a press release.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, during the meeting, they discussed the possibilities of undertaking a project on ‘Development of a High-Accuracy Flood Forecast System for the Haor Region in Northeastern Bangladesh’ with the financial and technical support from JICA. Dhaka University will play a role as the implementing institution of this project. They agreed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in this regard soon.



Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Niaz Ahmed Khan thanked the JICA delegation members for their proposal of a development project. He expressed his willingness to work with JICA to promote academic and research activities at DU.
