Dhaka: Japan ambassador to Bangladesh Iwama Kiminori today laid emphasis on collaboration with Dhaka in climate change and disaster management. Highlighting the shared challenges of natural disasters in Japan and Bangladesh, the envoy underlines the importance of effective people-oriented preparedness. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the ambassador made these remarks while speaking at the International Symposium on Climate Change and Emergency Management Challenges for Asia Pacific at the Samson H Chowdhury Centre of Dhaka Club in the capital, said a press release here. The symposium was organized by the Asia Pacific Alliance for Disaster Management (A-PAD) and the Community Initiative Society (CIS). The Japanese envoy expressed hope that the symposium would strengthen networks and promote knowledge-sharing for disaster risk reduction across the region. He urged the disaster management bodies to put their efforts in fostering cross-border cooperation to enhance disaster resilience.
