DHAKA: Jannat Howladar of Madirpur Tennis Club triumphed in the girls' singles 14 years category at the Shahjalal Islami Bank Victory Day Tennis competition, held at the national tennis court complex in Ramna. Howladar displayed remarkable skill in the final, defeating Mastura Afrin of Pro Tennis Academy with a decisive 6-1, 6-1 victory.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the competition also featured several intense matchups in other categories. In the men's singles quarterfinals, Zarif Abrar of Army Officers Club secured a win over Tanveer Moon Tushar of Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Prothistan (BKSP) with a score of 6-2, 6-1. Additionally, Jawad Mohammad Bhuiya of Uttara Club overcame Farooq Hossain of National Tennis Complex 6-2, 6-2. Mahadi Hasan Alvi, representing Nordic Club, won against Biplab Ram, recovering from a set down to clinch the match 4-6, 6-0, 6-2. Md. Rustom Ali from American Club also advanced to the semi-finals by defeating Hanif Munna 6-4, 6-3.
In the women's singles quarterfinals, Halima Jahan from BKSP showcased resilience as she battled back to defeat Sushmita Senke of Jhalkathi Tennis Club 3-6, 4-6, 6-2. Subarna Khatun, also from BKSP, achieved a straightforward victory against Tanjila Akhtar of Jhalkathi Tennis Club, winning 6-3, 6-1 to move on to the semi-finals.
The boys' singles 18 years group saw BKSP's Kavya Gayen defeat his teammate Mahad Bin Malek in a closely contested match that ended 3-6, 6-3, 7-6. In another encounter, Md Sayem defeated BKSP's Subit Barua with a commanding 6-1, 6-0 performance to advance to the final.
In the girls' singles 18 years group, Halima Hazan from BKSP overcame Sumna Bakshi of Advocate Abdus Salam Tennis Complex with a 6-2, 6-1 victory, while Jannatun Ferdous Mitu of BKSP defeated Yana Koreishi Chowdhury of Naogaon Tennis Club 6-3, 6-1 to secure her place in the finals.
The boys' singles 14 years group featured several BKSP players in competition. Kavya Gayen defeated NH Talukdar 6-0, 7-5, Tahmid Jamjid beat Intesar Hasin 6-2, 6-4, and Zubair Islam overcame Sabir Islam 6-2, 7-6. Md Akash Hessen of Pro Tennis Academy also advanced to the semi-finals by defeating BKSP's Parth Samaddar 6-3, 7-5.
