Dhaka:Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Mia Golam Porwar has raised concerns over the role of intelligence agencies following the death of former Flight Lieutenant Tahsif Souri.

According to United News of Bangladesh, Porwar accused the agencies of spreading false information about opposition leaders and criticized their inability to ensure the safety of a former air force officer. He labeled the alleged actions as "ridiculous" and called for accountability.

Porwar's statement came after Souri's body was recovered from the Turag River. He expressed deep concern over the incident and questioned the performance of law enforcement and intelligence agencies, suggesting that they should be held accountable for any negligence in their duties.

He emphasized the state's responsibility to ensure the safety of its citizens and demanded a prompt, impartial, and transparent investigation into Souri's death. Porwar urged for the arrest and punitive measures against those responsible for the incident and insisted on legal actions against any officials or agencies found to have neglected their responsibilities.

The Jamaat leader also called for justice for Souri's family, stressing that no one should escape accountability for negligence in state duties. However, the statement did not provide evidence to support the claims against the intelligence agencies.
