Dhaka: Jamaat-e-Islami-nominated candidate Md Ataur Rahman has been elected unofficially in the Narail-2 constituency in the 13th national parliamentary election, securing 1,18,142 votes. His nearest rival in the constituency, independent candidate Md Monirul Islam, received 78,457 votes.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, in the referendum held in the constituency, 1,48,247 votes were cast in favour of “Yes,” while 86,942 votes were cast for “No.” The results were announced at the Result Collection and Dissemination Centre at Nirbachan Bhaban in the capital’s Agargaon area today.
