Dhaka: Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Gazi Enamul Haque emerged victorious in the Jashore-5 constituency during the 13th national parliament election. He secured a total of 1,32,876 votes, surpassing his closest competitor, independent candidate Shahid Md Iqbal Hossain, who garnered 85,045 votes.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the election results were officially announced at the Result Collection and Dissemination Centre located at Nirbachan Bhaban, Agargaon in the capital. In a referendum associated with the election, 1,75,871 people cast ‘Yes’ votes, while 88,809 opted for ‘No’ votes.
