Dhaka: BNP candidate Shimul Biswas has been elected unofficially in the Pabna-5 constituency in the 13th national parliamentary election.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Shimul Biswas secured 1,81,925 votes, while his nearest rival, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Md Iqbal Hossain, received 1,64,994 votes.
The results were announced at the Result Collection and Dissemination Centre at Nirbachan Bhaban, Agargaon in the capital today.
