Khulna: Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman today stated that his party aims to create a curse-free Bangladesh where women and children can live in safety, dignity, and security. Addressing an election rally at the historic Circuit House ground, he expressed concerns about the decline of industry and agriculture in Khulna, citing wrong policies and widespread plunder by previous governments as reasons for factory closures.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr Shafiqur pledged that if Jamaat comes to power, they will reopen closed mills and factories and establish new industries. He emphasized prioritizing job creation over unemployment allowances, stating the party’s intent to provide employment and honor the youth rather than offering stipends.

The rally, chaired by Jamaat central Majlis-e-Shura member and Khulna city Ameer Professor Mahfuzur Rahman, witnessed a massive turnout. Dr Shafiqur voiced concerns over election-related violence and urged perpetrators to seek forgiveness, emphasizing the need to respect the public’s verdict.

He urged citizens to act as guardians of the vote and ensure safe access to the ballot box. Dr Shafiqur also offered prayers for the souls of martyrs and expressed solidarity with those affected by past violence, speaking on behalf of the broader population, not just Jamaat.

Criticizing the Awami League, he alleged corruption and capital flight under their regime. Despite past repression, Jamaat leaders have shown restraint, demonstrating true safety to the people. Addressing women, Dr Shafiqur promised recognition of their dignity and guaranteed security if elected.

Highlighting Khulna’s challenges, he noted the devastation caused by salinity and natural disasters, pledging community consultation for development. He assured public accountability and vowed that no party member would misuse public funds.

Jamaat Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar accused some groups of seeking power through violence and corruption, outlining development pledges for Khulna, including modernizing infrastructure and promoting tourism.

Islamic Chhatra Shibir President Nurul Islam Saddam highlighted the transformation of campuses under Shibir leadership, presenting it as a future model. Leaders of allied parties and candidates of the 11-party electoral alliance also addressed the rally.
