Jamaat Ameer Urges Support for ‘Honest, Competent and Patriotic’ Candidates

Dhaka: Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman has made a public appeal to voters, urging them to support candidates who are ‘honest, competent and patriotic’ in the upcoming national election. In a message shared on Wednesday night, Dr Rahman encouraged citizens to cast their votes with a sense of duty and love for their country.



According to United News of Bangladesh, Dr Rahman emphasized the importance of making informed choices at the ballot box, cautioning against succumbing to short-term incentives that could jeopardize the nation’s future. “Cast your valuable vote for an honest, competent and patriotic candidate. Do not put your country in danger for a small amount of money,” he stated in his Facebook post.



Dr Rahman also addressed the issue of misinformation, urging the public to remain vigilant and not be swayed by circulating rumours. “Please be careful. Do not pay attention to these rumours,” he advised.



This election sees a significant number of eligible voters, with 127,298,522 individuals across 299 constituencies entitled to vote. The voter demographic includes 64,620,077 males, 62,677,232 females, and 1,213 third-gender individuals. Overall, the country hosts 127,711,899 registered voters in 300 constituencies, comprising 64,825,154 males, 62,885,525 females, and 1,220 third-gender voters.
