Dhaka: Religious Affairs Adviser Dr. AFM Khalid Hossain highlighted the profound significance of the Islamic Olympiad, linking it to the cultural roots of two billion people globally connected through Islamic culture. He was speaking at the grand finale of the ‘Fresh Islamic Olympiad-2025’, organized by ATN News, held at a hotel in the capital this afternoon.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr. Khalid emphasized, “Culture is the root of a nation, and disconnecting from it is to get disconnected from one’s very essence.” He further elaborated that culture is not merely about music, dance, and art but also includes the thoughts, beliefs, and lifestyles of a community. He stressed the importance of engaging the younger generation with their cultural heritage, values, and cherished legacies.

Dr. Khalid pointed out the need to awaken cultural consciousness, noting that approximately 91% of the population in the country is Muslim. “We cannot neglect the culture of this large community. We must strive to revive and promote this culture and its values,” he remarked.

Expressing gratitude to ATN News for organizing the Islamic Olympiad, Dr. Khalid encouraged sponsors to continue their support for the event. The event was chaired by Dr. Mahfuzur Rahman of ATN News and ATN Bangla and attended by Executive Director of ATN News, Md. Mosharraf Hossain.

The adviser later presented awards to the winners of the Islamic Olympiad-2025, a competition that saw participation from students of schools, colleges, and universities. Nine winners across three groups were recognized, each receiving a crest, certificate, and prize money.
