Dhaka: Iranian Ambassador in Dhaka, Mansour Chavoshi, met with the Shipping, Labour and Employment Adviser, Brig General (retd) M Sakhawat Hossain, at the secretariat office, focusing on enhancing cooperation between Iran and Bangladesh. The ambassador affirmed Iran's support for the current interim government, emphasizing the shared religious and cultural ties that have historically linked the two nations. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Ambassador Chavoshi highlighted the trade relations between the two countries, noting Iran's import of jute and jute goods from Bangladesh and Bangladesh's acquisition of natural liquefied gas from Iran. He suggested that both nations could further benefit by strengthening commercial relations and exploring existing trade opportunities. Brig Sakhawat welcomed Iran's interest in enhancing bilateral relations, stating that Bangladesh maintains international standards in its shipping operations. Acknowledging the historical commercial ties, he emphasized Bangladesh' s role as a key partner in Middle Eastern trade and noted the potential for expanding exports and imports between the two nations. He also stressed the importance of building stronger connections between the business communities of Iran and Bangladesh. The meeting was attended by Senior Secretary to the Shipping Ministry Mohammad Yousuf and other senior officials, underscoring the significance of the discussions for future cooperation.
