Iranian Ambassador Calls on Bangladeshi Foreign Secretary to Boost Economic and Cultural Ties

Dhaka: Iranian Ambassador to Bangladesh Mansour Chavoshi today paid a courtesy call on Foreign Secretary Md. Jashim Uddin at the foreign ministry here. During their meeting, they focused on strengthening bilateral and multilateral ties with an emphasis on economic and cultural cooperation, as stated in a press release from the foreign ministry.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Bangladesh foreign secretary highlighted the deep historic and cultural connections between Bangladesh and Iran, underlining the potential for enhanced collaboration in various sectors. The Iranian Ambassador echoed this sentiment and sought the Foreign Secretary’s support in bolstering the ongoing bilateral engagement in sectors such as business, trade, and investment.



Both parties reviewed pending engagements and urged the finalization of outstanding instruments and Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) on cultural exchange, visa waivers, education, and research. They also explored strategies to address current challenges in optimizing bilateral trade and commercial collaboration.



Ambassador Chavoshi expressed gratitude for Bangladesh’s longstanding support on international platforms and hoped for continued collaboration in multilateral forums. Additionally, he extended an invitation to the Foreign Secretary for Bangladesh’s participation in the ‘Iran Expo 2025’, scheduled from 26 April to 02 May 2025 in Tehran.



The Foreign Secretary called for the Ambassador’s cooperation in ensuring the participation of Iranian businessmen and investors in the ‘Bangladesh Investment Summit 2025’, set to be held from 07-10 April 2025 in Dhaka. Both sides exchanged views and reiterated their commitment to advancing bilateral cooperation, including convening the next round of the Joint Economic Commission and Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) at an early date.
