Tehran: Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has announced that Iranian forces are fully prepared to confront any potential arrival of US troops. The statement comes amidst rising tensions between the two nations.

According to United News of Bangladesh, Ghalibaf, in an interview with the state-run Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), criticized US President Donald Trump for showing interest in negotiations while allegedly planning a ground offensive against Iran. He highlighted a discrepancy, pointing out that “the enemy is publicly talking about negotiations while secretly preparing for a ground attack.” Ghalibaf warned that Iranian forces are ready to confront US soldiers if they enter the country.

Earlier reports from US media indicated that the Pentagon is preparing for weeks-long ground operations in Iran. This development follows an announcement by the US military regarding the deployment of around 3,500 troops from the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit to the Middle East.
