KHULNA: A three-day international conference on mechanical, industrial, and energy engineering, known as ICMIEE-2024, commenced today at the Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET). The event aims to create a global platform for discussing the latest developments in mechanical, industrial, and materials engineering, marking its eighth consecutive year at KUET.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the conference is organized by KUET’s Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. It provides a significant opportunity for academics, engineers, professionals, researchers, specialists, and students from both domestic and international backgrounds to share insights and tackle engineering challenges that contribute to sustainable development.
The opening session featured Prof Hassan Chowdhury from the UTEP-Aerospace Center at the University of Texas at El Paso, USA, who participated virtually as the chief guest. Prof Shahidul Islam, Dean of the Mechanical Engineering Faculty, presided over the session. Remarks were also given by KUET Vice-Chancellor Prof Muhammad Masud, ICMIEE Organizing Secretary Prof Ilias Inam, Technical Committee President Prof Mijanur Rahman, and Secretary Prof Sultan Mahmud.
Prof Hassan Chowdhury emphasized the crucial role engineering and technology play in modern development. He noted that widespread research and innovative practices are elevating global progress in mechanical, industrial, and materials engineering.
Approximately 300 researchers, educators, engineers, and technologists from various countries are participating in the conference. The event features the presentation of 143 technical papers and six keynote lectures across 21 parallel sessions.
