Dhaka: BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir expressed approval of the interim government’s performance following the July Uprising, stating that it has executed commendable work and continues to strive for more. Fakhrul emphasized the need for responsibility from all individuals in their respective positions, considering the temporary nature of the current government.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Fakhrul shared these thoughts while serving as the chief guest at the Bangladesh Water Development Board Workers-Employees Conference and General Meeting held at the Water Bhaban Multipurpose Hall on Green Road. He acknowledged the challenges of resolving longstanding issues within a short period, highlighting the impact of the Awami League’s 15-year rule.
The signing of the July National Charter was described by Fakhrul as a significant political event, with most political parties endorsing the historic document. He stressed the critical nature of the forthcoming national parliamentary election, viewing it as a determinant of the country’s democratic future.
Fakhrul urged political parties to participate in the national election, advocating for unity in overcoming differences, similar to the consensus achieved with the July Charter. He linked the significance of the Liberation War of 1971 to the nation’s identity, underscoring its foundational role in the country’s existence.
