Rajshahi: An 18-day Inter-department football tournament for the 2024-2025 academic year commenced today at Rajshahi University (RU). RU Vice-chancellor Prof Saleh Hassan Naquib inaugurated the tournament by releasing balloons and festoons at the university stadium, serving as the chief guest for the event. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Pro-VCs Prof Muhammad Main Uddin and Prof Farid Uddin Khan, along with Treasurer Prof Matiar Rahman, were also present at the inauguration ceremony. To mark the occasion, Vice-president of Bangladesh Football Federation Abu Nasser Shahriar presented 100 footballs to RU VC as gifts. On the tournament's opening day, the department of Veterinary and Animal Sciences emerged victorious over the department of Geography and Environmental Sciences with a 1-0 win. The tournament features participation from football teams representing 58 different departments.
