Gaibandha: A district-level inter-college football tournament commenced this afternoon at the Zilla Stadium in Gaibandha town. The event marks a significant part of the Youth Festival-2025 celebrations.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the tournament is jointly organized by the district administration and the district sports office, with support from the District Sports Association. The inauguration was graced by District Commissioner (DC) Choudhury Muazzam Ahammad, who attended as the chief guest.
The opening ceremony was presided over by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Jodob Sarker. Other notable speakers included Nazmul Hasan Sohag, chief coordinator of NCP in Gaibandha, District Sports Officer (DSO) Alamgir Hossain, and former footballer and BNP leader Illias Hossain. DC Choudhury Ahammad emphasized the importance of ensuring the tournament's smooth conduct through active participation.
The first match featured Gobindaganj Government College against Sundarganj D.W. Degree College, with Gobindaganj Government College securing a victory of 6-1. The tournament sees participation from seven government colleges and five non-government colleges and will run until November 22.
