Dhaka: Inqilab Moncho has announced a nationwide protest and brief rallies on Friday demanding justice for its slain spokesman Sharif Osman Bin Hadi. The protest march and rallies are scheduled to take place after Jumma prayers, as stated by the platform in a Facebook post on Thursday evening.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Osman Hadi, who was also a prospective candidate for the Dhaka-8 constituency, faced a tragic end when he was shot in the head on December 12 while travelling in a rickshaw on Culvert Road in Puratan Paltan. Following the incident, he was airlifted to Singapore for advanced medical treatment; however, he succumbed to his injuries on the night of December 18.
On December 20, Osman Hadi was laid to rest beside the grave of national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam at Dhaka University. The call for protests underscores the demand for accountability and justice for his untimely death, reflecting the ongoing unrest and demand for action among his supporters and the broader community.
