Dhaka: Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapon has extended his greetings to the people of the country on the occasion of Pahela Baishakh, marking the Bangla New Year 1433. The minister highlighted the cultural and economic significance of the Bangla New Year in a message issued today, emphasizing its origins and importance to the nation’s agricultural roots.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Swapon underscored that the tradition of the Bangla New Year was originally introduced as a means for farmers to maintain detailed records of their crop yields. This historic tradition continues to symbolize the Bangalee culture and the integral role of agriculture in the nation’s economy.
The minister also noted that the current government is incorporating agriculture as a central element in its future economic plans. By dedicating the Bangla New Year 1433 to the country’s farmers and the agricultural economy, the government aims to reinforce agriculture’s pivotal position in national development.
