Dhaka: Information and Broadcasting Adviser Md Mahfuj Alam has called upon officials and employees of district information offices to actively engage in countering rumors and disinformation at the local level. He emphasized this directive at a focus group discussion organized by the Mass Communication Department held in the ministry’s meeting room today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Mahfuj Alam highlighted the significant role district information offices can play in raising public awareness. He insisted that these offices should conduct publicity campaigns in collaboration with district administrations, local journalists, and community leaders. Additionally, he stressed the importance of accelerating the construction of district information complexes nationwide, as these structures will significantly aid in the preservation and dissemination of information.
Mahfuj Alam further underscored the crucial responsibility of information officers in ensuring the free flow of information and urged relevant authorities to provide appropriate training for local information officers.
Information and Broadcasting Ministry Secretary Mahbuba Farjana emphasized the need for improved communication between district information officers and local journalists to effectively address rumors and disinformation. She also called upon district information officers to act responsibly in combating these issues.
