Info Minister to Speak at JPC Event Honoring Jadu Miah

Dhaka: Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapan is set to address a discussion at the Jatiya Press Club tomorrow, commemorating the 47th death anniversary of Mashiur Rahman Jadu Miah, who was instrumental in advocating for democracy, justice, and people’s rights in Bangladesh.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the event is organized by the Mashiur Rahman Jadu Miah Memorial National Committee and will be chaired by noted rhymester and veteran politician Abu Saleh. Academic, economist, and political analyst Dr. Mahabub Ullah will deliver the keynote speech.



The function will also feature speeches from several prominent figures, including BNP Vice Chairmen Barkat Ullah Bulu and Shamsuzzaman Dudu, Jatiyatabadi Muktijoddha Dal President Ishtiaq Aziz Ulfat, and its General Secretary Alhaj Noor Ahmed. Additionally, Bhashani Janashakti Party Chairman Sheikh Rafiqul Islam Babul, BNP leader Md Mostak Mia, and Jubo Dal Senior Vice President Rezaul Karim Pol are expected to address the gathering.



To honor Jadu Miah’s legacy, arrangements for recitations of the Holy Qur’aan and doa mahfils have been made at various madrasas, his village home in Khogakharibari under Dimla upazila of Nilphamari district, and his residence in Radhaballabh in Rangpur. Mashiur Rahman, known widely as Jadu Miah, passed away on March 12, 1979.
