Rangpur: A stone-laden truck and a urea fertiliser-laden BRTC truck collided head-on here today, killing both drivers of the transports on the spot. The accident occurred at Hajipur Kharubhaj Bridge on the Rangpur-Dinajpur highway in Taraganj upazila at 7:30 am.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the stone-carrying truck was traveling to Rangpur from Panchagarh, while the urea fertiliser-laden BRTC truck was en route to Saidpur from Rangpur. The deceased drivers have been identified as Idris Ali, 35, from Jhenaidah district, and Ariful Haque, 37, from Patuakhali district, as stated by Taraganj Highway Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Mostafizur Rahman.
Upon receiving information about the accident, Taraganj Highway Police promptly arrived at the scene to initiate rescue operations and recovered the bodies. The two damaged trucks have been seized, and a case has been filed at Taraganj police station in connection with the incident.
