Indonesia Seeks Enhanced Economic Ties with Bangladesh

Dhaka:Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia, Anis Matta, has expressed his country's interest in expanding economic cooperation with Bangladesh beyond traditional business interactions.

According to United News of Bangladesh, during a meeting with Bangladesh's State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Shama Obaed Islam, Anis Matta discussed various areas of mutual interest. The meeting emphasized the importance of deepening bilateral trade and economic relations between the two nations.

State Minister Shama highlighted the potential to increase the import of Bangladeshi products into Indonesia and advocated for more collaboration among women entrepreneurs from both countries. She also encouraged Indonesian students to pursue educational opportunities in Bangladesh, particularly at medical universities.

To enhance connectivity, Vice Minister Matta suggested exploring the establishment of a direct flight route between Dhaka and Jakarta. He also noted Indonesia's interest in using Dhaka as a transit hub for Indonesian passengers traveling to Saudi Arabia.

During the discussions, State Minister Shama called for increased cooperation in areas such as environment and climate change, artificial intelligence, and cultural exchanges. Vice Minister Anis Matta is on an official visit to Bangladesh and is set to depart from Dhaka on Thursday.
