Dhaka: Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pranay Verma has visited Dhaka University (DU) and met with its Vice Chancellor Prof ABM Obaidul Islam and other senior faculty members. The visit was aimed at discussing ways to enhance educational cooperation and academic exchanges between DU and esteemed Indian universities and institutions, as stated by the Indian High Commission.
According to United News of Bangladesh, during his visit, High Commissioner Verma toured several departments within the university, including the Department of Theatre and Performance Studies, Department of Music, and Department of Dance. He engaged with teachers and students, gaining insights into their work and witnessing some of their performances.
Additionally, High Commissioner Verma visited the Institute of Modern Languages (IML) at DU. In a gesture to bolster the development of the Hindi language curriculum, he presented over 1,500 books covering literature and pedagogy to the IML’s Hindi Department. This contribution is intended to support the academic growth and enhance the resources available to students and faculty involved in Hindi studies.
The visit underlines the ongoing commitment to strengthening educational ties and fostering a collaborative academic environment between Bangladesh and India.
