Dhaka: Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Dinesh Trivedi paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Monday, engaging in discussions focused on bilateral relations between India and Bangladesh. The meeting, which took place at the Prime Minister's Office at the Secretariat at around 11 am, was confirmed by the Prime Minister's Deputy Press Secretary Zahidul Islam Rony.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the meeting was a courtesy interaction where both leaders exchanged views on the bilateral relations and mutual interests of the two countries. This meeting marked Trivedi's first official engagement with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman since his appointment.
Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman and the Prime Minister's Foreign Affairs Adviser Humaiun Kobir were in attendance during the meeting. Trivedi, who has a long-standing political career as a former Indian railway minister and health minister, was appointed as the 16th High Commissioner to Bangladesh in April, succeeding Pranay Kumar Verma.
Trivedi officially took office after presenting his credentials to former president Mohammed Shahabuddin on June 25. Since assuming his role, Trivedi has met with Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman and State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed, continuing his diplomatic efforts and engagements in Dhaka.
