Dhaka: Independent candidate Atikul Alam Shawon has been elected unofficially from the Cumilla-7 constituency in the 13th national parliamentary election. He secured a total of 91,690 votes, surpassing his closest competitor, BNP candidate Redwan Ahmed, who garnered 48,509 votes.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the election results were declared at the Result Collection and Dissemination Centre located at Nirbachan Bhaban in Agargaon, Dhaka. In addition to the parliamentary election, a referendum was held where 123,664 voters cast 'Yes' votes, while 39,358 opted for 'No' votes.
